Choose a Colour Palette: Start with a cohesive colour scheme that reflects your style and theme.

Venue Size Matters: Ensure the venue can comfortably accommodate your guest list to avoid overcrowding. (The guest list review it there is always room for improvement, this will cut costs on catering.)

Use Lighting Wisely: Consider uplighters or fairy lights to create ambiance and enhance the venue’s features.

Incorporate Personal Touches: Display family photos or momentos that reflect your story.

Floor Plan Balance: Create an effective layout that encourages guest interaction without obstructing flow. (Think about accessibility for older attendees and people with disabilities or the bored kids who have the zoomies around the room, because you forgot to put an activity table or entertainment on to keep your little guests amused)

Centrepieces: Opt for centerpieces that fit the height of your tables, ensuring they’re not too obstructive to guests.

Drape and Fabric: Use draping to soften the venue’s architecture and add elegance.

Check Flower Condition: Always check with your florist if any of your flowers have been frozen, especially delicate ones like roses (especially white ones), as this can affect their appearance and longevity on your big day. Nobody wants their bouquet to wilt before your evening guests arrive.

Your probably thinking "What?"  Yes, some growers (suppliers) utilise freezing as a preservation method for flowers, though it's more commonly used for longer-term storage and not as a primary method for maintaining freshness during transport. Wholesalers employ various techniques, including temperature-controlled storage and modified atmosphere packaging, to keep flowers fresh and extend their shelf life.

Red Roses often symbolise love, making them a popular choice for gifts and decorations. However, the moment they are cut from their stems, their journey towards decay begins. This is a bittersweet reality that many people might not consider when admiring a freshly picked bouquet.

Once severed from their roots, roses lose their primary source of nutrients and water transfer. The cut stems can no longer absorb the life-giving elements they once relied on. As time passes, the petals may begin to wilt, losing their vibrant colour and freshness.

To prolong the life of cut roses, many enthusiasts turn to various care techniques, such as placing them in water with additives, trimming the stems at an angle, and keeping them away from direct sunlight. Despite these efforts, the truth remains: roses begin to die the moment they are cut, making their fleeting beauty all the more precious.

Table Linens: Invest in quality table linens; they dramatically impact the overall look.

Signage: Use elegant signage to guide guests and add a decorative touch.

Theme Consistency: Maintain consistency in decor elements to reinforce your wedding theme.

Consider the Venue’s Features: Emphasise unique focal points of the venue, like a grand staircase or large windows, or scenic areas outside the venue.

Weather Contingencies: If outdoors, have a backup plan and consider renting canopies.

Mood Boards: Create a visual mood board to help communicate your vision to vendors.

A wedding mood board is a visual tool that helps  couples gather and organise inspiration for the overall look and feel of their wedding. It can be either a physical or digital collage that combines images, colours, textures, and other elements to express the desired aesthetic and atmosphere. Essentially, a mood board allows couples to visualise their wedding concept and effectively communicate their vision to vendors.

Guest Comforts: Ask your venue to provide fans based on the season to keep guests comfortable and cool over the summer months.

Themed Decor Elements: Incorporate decor items that reflect both the bride and grooms hobbies or interests.

Interactive Elements: Provide interactive decor, like a photo booth or wish tree, to engage guests.

Budget-Friendly Decor: Utilise DIY projects for personalised decor without breaking the bank.

Consult with Venue Coordinators and Stylists: They often have valuable insights and suggestions for decor that works within your venue and ceremony rooms.

Colour Coordination for Attire: Ensure bridal party attire complements the overall colour scheme.

Flowers Beyond Bouquets: Use flowers in unexpected places, like on the back of chair covers or the side for going down the aisle or as part of the ceremony backdrop.

Plan for Sound: Ensure that any music or speeches can be heard clearly throughout the venue.  Ask the venue if they have a mic available for the speeches!  That way not only people with hearing impairments and the gusts at the back of the room can enoy your speeches.

Decorate the Ceremony Area: Don’t forget to dress up the ceremony space to match the reception decor. If in the same building, these decorations or chairs can be turned about for your main wedding breakfast while you are out getting photographed.

Vintage Find Use: Incorporate vintage items like furniture or decor pieces to add character.

Tying the Knot Decor: When saying your vows, consider a beautifully decorated floral arch or wedding twinklelight backdrop.

Utilise Multi-Purpose Decor: Choose decorative elements that can serve multiple purposes, like table numbers that double as decorations.

Plan for Clean-Up: Coordinate with your venue and event companies on clean-up procedures to ensure everything runs smoothly. That includes dressing down the venue at the end of the night.

Use Natural Elements: Incorporate elements like wood, stone, or greenery for a rustic or organic aesthetic.

Timing for Daylight: Consider natural light when planning event start times, especially for photography. Don't miss out in the winter by getting married too late in the afternoon.

Budget for Hire: Allocate budget for necessary hires like chair covers, sashes (chair bows) and linens. (Always keep 20% of your budget for the unexpected costs or additional unexpected expenditure - you will be glad you do!)

Guest Book Alternatives: Explore creative alternatives for guest books, like fingerprint trees or photo albums.

Decorate Bathrooms: Small touches like fresh flowers in bathroom areas can enhance the overall guest experience.

Mind the View: Be aware of what guests will see; consider dressing the areas in their sightlines.

Seasonal Decor: Embrace the season by incorporating seasonal elements like pumpkins in autumn or in spring, fresh small bouquets with lots of foliage.

Communicate with Vendors: Share your venue dressing plans with all vendors to ensure cohesive execution. That includes deliveries for access!

Non-Traditional Ceremony Locations: Explore unique venues like art galleries for a different vibe.
